Here's one for those of you who find yourselves on the other side of the musical spectrum and prefer to stay out of the bloody metal wars.
TOPIC: Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon is one of the worst vocalists of all time, in one of the worst bands ever. Along with Brett Michaels (Poison). Please discuss.
Although i'm pretty sure that Brett would totally spank Kevin in a cage match..... ick.
Go in peace....
G.O.T.
Agreed! Over the summer I was pulled to an REO concert (and I thank you for never reminding me again). Lead singer sounded like a brittney spears who had snorted too much coke. Nasal quality that would rival the love child of pee wee herman and steve erckel...

I feel your pain.... Was funny, they came on the radio shortly after writing this. I had to listen to confirm my opinion. Yep, i was right!
ReplyDeleteDude. What the hell up? You like Journey but not REO. Dude REO was one of my biggest musical influences of the 70's. In fact, my first concert ever, 8th grade, was REO. Micheal Murphy was the lead singer at that time. Cronin left for 3 albums, then returned in 1976. Gary Richrath was a great, great guitarist and songwriter. I would put the REO live album from 77 in the top 5 albums of the decade and probably in top 5 Live albums ever. Live version of "Ridin The Storm Out" is as good as anything ever. Definately one of the top 5 songs of the decade. Even the late 70's-early 80's they had some great songs- I Can't Fight This Feelin, Roll With The Changes, Keep On Lovin' You, Take It On The Run.
ReplyDeleteBefore now I don't believe I have ever heard ANYONE that didn't like REO.
Journey was a complete chick band. After Steve Perry joined the band in 78, No self respecting male would be caught dead buying a Journey album. Even though Neal Schon was a great guitarist, Steve Perry just invokes a gag reflex. I think Schon and Gregg Rollie were even embarrassed to be in the band. I don't know who said they went to a REO concert "over the summer" and lead singer was bad but dude- they're 65 yrs old.
REO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeezus Jerry.... I was salutin' you through all your comments on Pantera, and then this!! You kiddin' me? REO Rocks?? That's like wishing you had a Barry Manilow tattoo or something else similarly vanilla pudding. I'll send you the Captain and Tenille box set. That'll probably satisfy your rock edge.... damn.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure you have The Captain and Tenille boxed set Oh listener of Muscrat Love.
ReplyDeleteI saw Journey on something while flippin' channels the other night and had always heard their Filipino lead singer sounded just like Steve Perry so I stopped a second to listen. Yep he sure does, sounds just like Steve Perry. So I changed the channel real quick then went to spit cuz I had thrown up in my mouth a little.
You better go download live version of "Ridin The Storm Out" and check out Richraths chops.
